Imphal, October 04 2016:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has today stated that Manipur University authority should be held responsible for hampering the academic atmosphere in the university campus.
In a statement, DESAM said that the issue of reservation during admission ensued due to the indecisiveness of MU authority.
Therefore, MU authority should take responsibility for all the unwanted commotion.
Academic Council of MU has been unable to take a right decision till date and that has created a series of problems.
Members of Academic Council, who have been biased in decision making, should step down from their respective post on moral ground, DESAM said in a statement.
The statement also condemned the dismantling of office furniture of some faculty members who had stood for the truth during the Academic Council meeting.
The incident would not have happened if the authority concerned had taken a decision under the Central Educational Institutions Amendment Act, 2012 on time.
In connection with the statement issued by the student body on the ongoing admission issue, JSCC had reacted by using some demeaning words.
Such statements of JSCC clearly showed that how ignorant they are, the statement added.
DESAM has never taken decisions that hamper the growth and development of the student community.
DESAM believes in the High Court's order which clearly stated that reservation in admission should be 31 per cent for ST, 2 per cent for SC and 17 per cent for OBC, the statement said.
It further said that some people speak like a parrot that has been taught to talk without understanding if it is the truth or not.
It would be wise if they can refer the Court's order, DESAM stated.
It is quite unfortunate that the JSCC has no idea about the Court's subsequent orders regarding the reservation.
The order issued on September 2.2015 has been disposed on October 3, 2016.As such, JSCC should be well-versed on the issue before issuing any statement.
