Imphal, December 03 2020:
A fact finding team of Women Committee (WC) of United NGOs Mission-Manipur (UNM-M) visited the residence of Sagolsem Tolika (59), w/o (late) Sagolsem Munal, who went missing on November 24, 2020 from room no 430, Sunlight colony-2, Ashram, near Mother Dairy, New Delhi.
Tolika moved to Delhi on November 6, 2020 as a babysitter for the son of RK Kherodasana and Kh Bipinchadra.
On the day she went missing, she went out to pick up the son of RK Kherodasana from tuition center as her usual duty, said the statement released by UNM-M.RK Kherodasana called up Irom Sanahanbi, daughter of Tolika and informed her that her mother was missing, added the statement.
WC expressed concern that Tolika's disappearance could be a case of human trafficking, because of the similarity between her disappearance and the disappearance of Pravish Chanam (22) on September 8, 2017 .
The statement added that human trafficking is an organised crime which violates all tenets of human dignity and rights and it can happen for many reasons like labour, commercial sexual exploitation, organ trade etc.
WC strongly appealed to the authorities concerned, Government of Manipur and Delhi to take the case seriously as it keeps happening every now and then.
