107 ultrasound machines registered for smooth implementation of PC & PNDT

107 Ultrasound machines installed in both private and Government hospitals have been registered for smooth implementation of PC & PNDT (Pre � conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Technique ) Act & Rules.
The Pre � conception and Pre � Natal Diagnostic Technique Act & Rules was fully implemented in the State from the year 2003 with the formation of State Supervisory Board (SSB), State Advisory Committee (SAC) and State Appropriate Authority (SAA) as implementing bodies.
Under this programme so far, 2 regional workshops on the status of implementation of PC & PNDT Act for 8(eight) North East States have been held at Imphal attended by dignitaries from the Ministry of Health & FW (PNDT Division), Government of India.
In 2012, Manipur secured the first place in decline of Infant Mortality Rate (IMR).
In 2013, Manipur stood second in the decline of Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) next to Goa.
The Family and Welfare Department launched the Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine (IPV) on April 1 at the conference hall of Family Welfare Services, Manipur under the chairmanship of Mission Director, State Health Society, National Health Mission, Manipur.
The Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Programme was also conducted in round-wise manner in the State.
The First round was began from Januray 17 and concluded at January 19.The second round was held from February 21 to 23 .
Under the Family Planning Programme, permanent and spacing methods are being conducted throughout the 9 (nine) districts.
Achievements from April 2015 to February 2016 for the Permanent method of Sterilization are, Vasectomy � 111 and Tubectomy � 530 and for Spacing method the figure stood at IUCD � 4570, Oral Pill (cycles) � 31876 and Condom (pcs) � 137702 .
Regional Health & Family Welfare Training Centre is conducting short duration refresher trainings as per the guideline of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
During 2014-15, 6 months Female Health Working training course was organised with 90 participants.
Under the Female Health Worker Training School, candidates (10+2 passed) are selected and trained for a 2 years course.
At present, 32 trainees was undergoing the training in the school.
First and second State Level Orientation training programme on Maternal Death Review was held on November 20, 2015 and March 15, 2016, at the conference hall of the Directorate of Family Welfare Services, Manipur.
The orientation programme was participated by State level programme officers, State Facilitator from Regional Resource Centre of North East, district level Chief Medical Officers, District Family Welfare Officers, District Immunization Officers, Medical Officers, District Programme Managers, District Finance Managers and invitees from State Health Society (National Health Mission) and Media personnel.
The Director of Family Welfare Services, Manipur is assisted by 4 Joint Directors, 2 Deputy Directors,1 State Media Officer and 1 Cold Chain Officer who oversees the implementation of programmes like the Direction & Administration, Universal Immunization Programme, Maternal & Child Health, Information, Education & Communication, Demographic & Evaluation Cell, Medical Board Division, PNDT Division,Training Division, Family Planning Programme, Cold Chain Division and Maternal Death Review.
Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Churachandpur are controlled by the District Family Welfare Officers and Senapati, Ukhrul, Tamenglong and Chandel are controlled by District Immunization Officers under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer of each district for smooth implementation of the above mentioned programmes from the grass root level to achieve 100 per cent coverage as per the Government of India guidelines.
