A celebration for the children who have got a
new lease of life after open heart surgery under a joint venture of
National Health Mission's Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram
(RBSK) and SKY Hospital was held at the hospital today.
NHM State Director and Directorate of Health Services
Director Dr O Ibomcha said that the hospital tied up with
RBSK to conduct open heart surgery for children in the State.
Surgeries and treatment related to different forms of heart
ailments given to children at the age of zero to 18 years are
conducted under the aegis of NHM in association with the
hospitals concerned.
13 children who had holes in their heart had been operated
upon so far at SKY hospital under the project, Dr Ibomcha
said.
All of them are healthy and they would not have any
problem in future as well, Dr Ibomcha said.
Saying that 150-160 children are on the waiting list, Dr
Ibomcha said that preference would be given to the children
whose problems are more complex.
SKY Hospital chief cardiologist Dr Shyamkishore said that
children who have a hole in the heart can live long if they are
given treatment on time.
