Swachhata Pakhwada 2018 launched in the State

State Mission Director, State Health Society, NHM, Manipur, Dr K Rajo Singh has said that a positive attitude is necessary in any steps or initiatives taken up in connection with hygienic living.
He made the statement at the launch ceremony of Swachhata Pakhwada 2018, organised by National Health Mission Manipur and Indian Medical Association Manipur State Branch at IMA House, Lamphelpat today.
Speaking at the event, Dr K Rajo explained that Swachhata Pakhwada is a part of Swatch Bharat Mission.
As per the 2018 calendar circulated by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Swachhata Pakhwada is to be organised from April 1 to April 15 and the launch ceremony cum cleanliness fortnight campaign has been organised as a part of the schedule, he added.
Swachhata pledge, distribution of IEC materials, selection of Nodal officers, organisation of various awareness programmes will constitute the main events of the cleanliness fort night campaign.
Dr Rajo also informed that a press conference will be organised on April 15 to explain the activities and the achievements of the campaign.
Speaking at the event, State Nodal Officer (QA) NHM, Manipur, Dr L Tomcha Khuman said that Swachhata Pakhwada is an cleanliness initiative which will be carried out over a period of two weeks.
It is a part of Swatch Bharat Abhiyan which began from 2014 .
Swachhata Pakhwada is divided into two phases/levels.
The first level includes team based activities and the second level comprises of health care facilities and commodity level.
Informing that World Health Day will be observed on April 7 in connection with Swachhata Pakhwada, Dr L Tomcha said that on the next day, April 8, an interaction or experience sharing event will be organised in which the teams sent out to various districts will share their experiences in the fields.
As a cleanliness competition, a cleanliness audit will be performed at various public health facilities from April 11 to 14, he added.
JNIMS Director Th Bhimo Singh and IMA Manipur State branch president Borgen Singh Akoijam also attended the event as presidium members.
Led by Dr K Rajo, the participants at the event took a Swachhata pledge at 11 am and numerous IEC materials were released as well.
