World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2020 observed

The Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur in collaboration with FXB India Suraksha, with the support of ECPAT Luxembourg, observed World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2020 by releasing a music video album "Emagi Phiji Marumda" as an anti human trafficking awareness tool to reach out to the general public yesterday.
The World Day Against Trafficking in Persons is observed every year on July 30 to raise awareness about the menace of human trafficking and to protect human rights of the victims by bringing all stakeholders.
Apart from depicting the ordeal of the survivors of trafficking, the music video contains important messages from Ngangom Uttam Singh, Director, Department of Social Welfare, Binobala Nongmeikapam, Deputy Director (Women Programme), Department of Social Welfare, Thomas Kauffmann, Director, ECPAT Luxembourg, Mamta Borgoyary, Chief Executive Director, FXB India Suraksha on inter-agency collaboration and the need of awareness to combat the organized form of crime, said a statement of the Social Welfare Department.
The aritstes in the music video are Pushparani Huidrom, Guru Rewben Mashangva, Pinky Saikhom and Sorri Senjam.
The lyricist of the song is Sunil Meitei, Project Officer, FXB India Suraksha and is directed by Tarun Wang.
The music video is released under the banner of Wang Motion Pictures.
The music video is available on Mami Taibang, YouTube channel, ISTV, Impact TV, TOM TV and MAMI TV.
"It is our collective responsibility to fight the menace of trafficking in person.
We should be extra vigilant because Manipur has the potential of being a source, transit and destination of human trafficking.
Human traffickers are like foxes in sheep's shin.
They show you dreams of a bright future but give you only nightmares that will haunt you forever.
Let's be vigilant to protect our loved ones from being trafficked and abused," said the statement issued by Ng Uttam Singh.
