Children's Film Fest begins

The three-day 4th Children's Film Festival organised by Manipur Film Development Corporation (MFDC) Ltd in association with Children's Film Society of India commenced from today (not Jan 30 as reported) at the Corporation's auditorium.
The festival inauguration ceremony was held with Commissioner (Art & culture) Dr RK Nimai Singh, MFDC director Dr K Sobita Devi and film critic RK Bidur Singh as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Pointing out that purpose of the festival is to develop mindset of the children and to promote children film producers and artistes, Dr RK Nimai assured that all possible measures would be initiated to organise similar film festivals in other districts in the near future.
In her brief address, Dr Sobita asserted that the Corporation will work for hosting children film festivals on a wider scale.
In all seven films would be screened at the annual event.
Award winning film maker Aribam Syam Sharma's 2000 production 'Paari', based on the endangered brow-antlered deer Sangai, opened the festival.
Paari is the lone entrant of the State at the festival, for which entry would be free.
On the second day tomorrow, films from the United States of America (Touching Wild Horse), Denmark (Sunshine Barry and the Disco Worms) and West Bengal (The Prince and the Crown of Stone) would be screened while on the concluding day films from Tamil Nadu (Dost Magarmachch), India (Anokha Aspatal) and Assam (Rhino) would be screened.
