Vaccination rate low in hill districts

Imphal, June 29 2021:
Though the health department authority has been urging the public to get vaccinated to stay protected from Covid-19, vaccination rate is very low in hill districts as compared with the valley areas.
As per report dated June 28; 6,32,397 vaccine doses including 5,48,916 first doses and 83,481 second doses have been administered to eligible persons in the state.
According to the report, number of vaccine doses administered in three hill districts namely Kamjong (5446), Pherzawl (7891) and Noney (9665) is very low.
Churachandpur has highest rate of vaccination among the hill districts with 59,084 doses so far.
Number of doses administered in other hill districts is 18,558 in Chandel, 18,183 in Kangpokpi, 14,413 in Ukhrul, 13,438 in Tengnoupal and 10,834 in Tamenglong districts.
On Tuesday, around 15,000 doses were administered.
The valley districts recorded an average of 1000 to 5000 doses while in the hill districts the number of vaccinated persons was around or below 300 except for Churachandpur district, which had 1484 persons inoculated.
Among the hill districts, 199 vaccine doses were recorded in Chandel, 29 in Kamjong, 367 in Kangpokpi, 193 in Noney, 81 in Pherzawl, 168 in Senapati, 166 in Tamenglong, 207 in Tengnoupal and 150 in Ukhrul.
In the valley areas, 240 vaccine doses were recorded in Jiribam, 1200 in Bishnupur, 3581 in Imphal East, 4772 in Imphal West, 1068 in Kakching and 1148 in Thoubal district.
So far, 1,70,319 vaccine doses have been administered in Imphal West; 1,32,872 in Imphal East; 60,500 in Thoubal; 47,094 in Bishnupur; 36,641 in Kakching; and 12,845 in Jiribam districts.
Meanwhile, 24,056 individuals in Imphal West; 15,603 in Imphal East; 5,919 in Thoubal; 4,651 in Bishnupur; 2,691 in Kakching; and 2,003 in Jiribam districts have been administered their second dose of Covid vaccine.
Vaccination for people in 18 to 44 years category started in the state from May 17 and 1,50,624 individuals have been vaccinated in the category of which 44 have received their second dose.
For 45 to 59 years category, 1,62,654 individuals have been vaccinated including 5150 individuals who have completed vaccination.
At the same time, 95,177 people in the age group of 60 years and above have been vaccinated with 2902 of them having received the second shot of the vaccine.
