Stating that the question of a Medical Superintendent (MS) of RIMS Hospital taking part in the teaching activities of the institute has been raised in different platforms, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal today said that as per the decision of the 40th Executive Council meeting held on November 13, 2009 under the chairpersonship of K Sujatha Rao, the then Secretary (Health), it was decided that any incumbent in the post of a MS, RIMS appointed from any of the teaching departments of the institute may continue teaching activities in his/her department.
According to the provisions of MCI, minimum qualification for teachers has been mentioned in Medical Institutions Regulation, 1998 (amended upto August, 2012) Clause 3, Schedule-I wherein administrators like Director, Principal, Dean and MS of Medical College/institution can take part in teaching activities in their departments concerned.
This has been followed in almost all the Medical Colleges/institutes in the country including RIMS, Imphal.
Professor M Amuba Singh, MS, RIMS, having been appointed to the present post from a teaching department (Biochemistry Department) is entitled to continue teaching activities after his appointment as the MS under the MCI provisions.
