Our destiny lies in our unity: UNLF-I
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, November 23 2018: The proscribed UNLF has asserted that "our peoples' destiny lies in our unity and togetherness".

A lengthy statement issued by the UNLF Central Committee on the occasion of the outfit's 54th raising day (November 24) conveyed that pursuing administrative policies based on ethnicity or community does not augur well for a small population like Manipur.

"This will surely weaken us and will be nothing but disastrous for all of us", said the Central Committee.

On the occasion of the party's 54th raising day, the UNLF Central Committee representing the party and its armed wing Manipur People's Army (MPA) has extended revolutionary greetings to all the patriotic peoples of Manipuri Nation.

While presenting its annual statement, the outfit sought forgiveness for any mistakes that they committed in the past while discharging their revolutionary duties.

Though UNLF has different specific plans for the working class, the same could not be implemented to the desired level because of more pressing political issues which cropped up now and then due to alleged colonial scheming, it said.

The party's activities still could not ring out a message that it stands firm for the peasants and all working classes allegedly subjugated by the Indian capital, the Central Committee confided.

As the ongoing Manipur-India conflict is passing through a critical phase; the fate of "Manipur Nation" is very critical.

As the alien rule has been allegedly strangulating all the masses, keeping them politically and economically subjugated for such a long time; people of Manipur have become more and more dependent on India.

The prolonged alien rule has taken such a heavy toll on the collective life of the people and the society has been degenerated to such a point that Manipuri people are losing their National pride and self-esteem.

The number of peoples imbued with slave mentality is increasing within the society; they have even started advocating that without depending on India, Manipur cannot survive and development will be impossible.

"These peoples don't care whether our culture, our identity and our Nation or indigenous peoples survive or not as long as their individual interests are served", the outfit remarked.

On the other hand, revolutionary parties of the land who are committed to free the oppressed people from the alien are unable to give the people a clear vision of a liberated, emancipated and transformed life world as they could not unite themselves and formulate a concrete strategic step of the liberation struggle against the common enemy so as to fructify it, claimed the outfit.

Particularly, those groups which are founded, and working on ethnic lines and having hill-valley outlook need to do a soul-searching.

Instead of chalking out a common path for struggle against the common enemy, the groups are working in different ways, on their own individual Capacity and this baffles the masses and the struggle could not progress forward.

The most important factor that is separating the revolutionaries from the common masses is the failure of the struggle to be the life support of the day-to-day fight for survival of the common people.

This should be taken as the weakness of policy and principle on the part of the revolutionary parties.

The problem.or weakness in the practical front is the inability to overcome today's complicated situation; and to devise a formula, a way-out to unify all the revolutionary groups irrespective of hills and plains, it added.

"If this situation is not controlled as soon as possible, our struggle will be in danger as any movement which does not enjoy popular support is bound to suffer", the Central Committee conveyed.

Recalling their annual statement of last year which emphasized that among all the resources that Manipur have, the most valuable is the people's inherent and prolific human resource, the outfit remarked that the people of Manipur have been excelling in many fields showing the world that Manipuri people are not easily suppressible and will rise again like the phoenix even though the alien rule has been trying to suppress the people in every field.

"By this indomitable quality of our inherent human resource alone, we are capable of winning our fight against the Indian regime and show a pathway of freedom and independence for our future generation.

And therefore, we assert that our prolific human resource is the main force with which we can win our liberation struggle and enable us to rewrite our own destiny", asserted the Central Committee.

Another area that is of paramount importance is to nurture and build patriotic and valiant future generation conscious about the social and National problems.

It then appealed to all the people to impart social education as well to the younger generations, particularly young children, about ideal social values such as social courtesy, discipline and also instil in them the pride of being the descendants of the brave patriotic forefathers who built the Manipuri Nation through blood and tears.

But ever since Manipur was annexed to India, the deep malaise which the people are experiencing is the anarchic system of education; and a wholesome education policy to produce the desired human resource has been non-existent while all educational institutions have been ruined by corruptions imported by the Indian system, it alleged.

India's "National Education Policy" instead of creating the desired human resources, is playing havoc as the younger generations are made oblivious of the distinctive identity, culture, origin, and history of Manipur.

The reason for imposing this policy is to obliterate the history and distinct identity of Manipuri people so that Manipur remains an occupied territory permanently, alleged the outfit.

"Because, even after so much political and economic suppression, the alien rule cannot make our people totally submissive; as our distinct identity and history make us totally different from India and unmixable as "Oil and water" .

Therefore when the Gol tries to impose any alien policy which is allergic to Manipuris, the Manipuri peoples rise and oppose with mass struggle; as we have seen in the past.

It is bound to happen", the outfit claimed.
