Imphal, May 23 2014 :
The Heingang Kendra PHED Subcontractors' Association has inspected various water supply schemes in the Constituency today.
Speaking to the accompanying media persons, Secretary of Heingang Kendra PHED Subcontractors' Association, H Shyamananda expressed strong suspicion that some water supply schemes sanctioned for the Constituency were used for personal gratification by the Minister concerned in collusion with the official concerned of the PHED.
Among the seven water supply schemes inspected today, six were constructed during the financial year 2011-12 .
Some of them are completed now while the rest are nearing completion.
However, the one sanctioned for Matai during 2013-14 has been constructed at Terapokpi Chingkhong perhaps with covert purpose, the secretary said.
Alleging that payment of ARP fund in respect of the water supply schemes constructed during 2011-12 became irregular since I Hemochandra took the charge of PHED, Shyamananda further said that payment of wages amounting over Rs 1 crore to the subcontractors has remained pending.
Although an amount of Rs 50 lakh has been sanctioned for the schemes in phase wise, it is surprising that Rs 1 crore has been sanctioned at once in respect of Matai Water Supply scheme, he added.
He also demanded immediate release of the pending amount to the subcontractors while issuing a strong warning to lock all water supply schemes in Heingang AC unless their demand is fulfilled.
The water supply schemes inspected today included Nilakuthi, Mongjam/Maiba Khul, Kontha Khabam, Heingang Makha, Kontha Ahallup, LYL and Matai Water supply schemes.
