Taking advantage of the visit of Myanmar's Chin State Chief Minister and his Council of Ministers, Parliamentary Secretary and Thanlon AC MLA Vungzagin Valte today called on the visiting dignitaries and held a detailed discussion on the issues of the border trade centre at Behiang and Indo-Myanmar road.
The meeting held early today at Classic Hotel was attended by the Chief Minister of Chin State, Hong Ngai, and his Council of Ministers Dr Ba Maung, Kien Ngein, Cinlianpau and MLA Ro Bin from the Myanmar side while V Valte was accompanied by R Sanga, member Zomi Council Steering Committee, ZHRF secretary Suanmoi Guite, secretary of PTC Imphal block and several reporters.
The Myanmarese delegates took keen interest in the issues as they felt it would greatly benefit their country.
Chief Minister Hong Ngai even sought the help of a map to study the viability of the trade centre at Behiang.
He also conveyed that the location would present the most convenient outlet for his State.
He also said that the proposed Indo-Myanmar road would be shortened by at least 60 to 70 miles if it passes through Behiang.
Valte and his friends on the other hand said it would save nearly 100 kms on the India side.
Exchange of traditional gifts preceded the meeting.
Myanmar delegates were presented with traditional shawls while they returned the gesture with the poster of an art work and a traditional dagger.
