ILPS stir goes on

Police today foiled an attempt of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System Women Wing members to demonstrate at Raj Bhavan gate.
The womenfolk, who emerged from two different directions, one group from Keishampat side and another from Jail Road, at around 12.30 am, were prevented from reaching Raj Bhavan gate by police.
However, they unfolded banners and shouted pro-ILPS slogans.
As they were blocked by police, they returned to BJP office gate shouting slogans like, 'Governor should resign if he is unable to enforce ILPS', 'Resign 60 MLAs', 'Protect indegenous people', 'Release Advocate Arjun' and staged demonstration there.
Later, the womenfolk turned their ire towards BJP and demanded party's stand on the issue through slogan shouting.
Police closed the gate of BJP office to avoid any untoward incident.
On the other hand, Khongjom Circle Meira Paibi organised a public meeting on ILPS at Khongjom Sapam Mayai Leikai.
Universal Friendship Organisation secretary general Yumlembam Meiraba Angom JCILPS member BM Yaima Saha and Sunil Karam spoke at the meeting as resource persons.
