Imphal, March 19 2018:
Taking serious note of the extinction of many Indian languages spoken by smaller communities due to corruption and substitution by foreign words/languages, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has underscored the importance of protecting and promoting Indian languages.
A three-day conference of RSS (Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha) was held at Nagpur from March 9 to 11 where several resolutions were adopted for protection and promotion of Indian languages.
Some of the resolutions adopted at the conference are; Students studying at primary level across the country should be taught in their mother tongues or in any other Indian languages and the Government should make necessary arrangements to this effect.
All teaching methods and study materials should be made available in Indian languages.
Students appearing for technical, medical and other higher educational courses should be allowed to write the same exams in Indian languages.
Students appearing for admission tests and competitive exams should be given the option of writing the same tests/exams in any Indian language of their choice.
Indian languages should be given preference in all official communications of the Government and the judiciary.
Likewise, rather than issuing orders and notices by Government and private establishments in English, Indian languages should be given preference.
The Union Government and the State Governments should take up effective measures for protection of India languages and their alphabets.
