Imphal, December 18 2020:
The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has appealed to the Zeliangrong people in particular and the Naga public in general to extend cooperation to achieve the common goal/solution as agreed upon between Government of India and NNPGs Working Committee.
The ZUF, in furtherance of the political objective and future of the Zeliangrong people, had entered into an alliance with NNPGs (Naga National Political Groups) and been a part of the Indo-Naga peace process, said ZUF in a press release issued today.
NNPGs had organised several consultative meetings with public leader, social workers, intellectuals, villages and Church leader and leaders of Civil Society Organisations of Zeliangrong community at various places of Manipur including Longmai (Noney) and Imphal besides meeting public leaders of other Naga tribes of Manipur, it said.
At the meetings, Raitu Chawang, chairman of ZUF ad member of NNPGs Working Committee highlighted the progress of the Indo-Naga peace process and rubbished digressive and false propaganda of NSCM (IM) that NNPG is only for Nagas of Nagaland, it said.
However, NSCM (IM)'s threat to shoot public/anyone who attend the NNPG meeting is itself a counter-productive gesture and is meant only to confuse and mislead the public and to hamper the peace process which has been the aspiration of the Naga people, it said.
Such a violent obstruction need to be condemned by one and all especially when all constituent bodies of NNPGs/Governments should be joining hands in the political journey to materialise lasting and honourable solution for all the Nagas of Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and other parts of North East India, it said.
It further maintained that during the consultative meetings, leaders and intellectuals shared their views and expressed support for early Indo-Naga solution after seeing the competencies of NNPGs in detail.
