Khamasom Phungyhar villagers thank team Goodwill car rally

The villagers of Khamasom Phungdhar expressed sincere gratitude to the participants of the 2nd edition of the Goodwill Car Rally organised by the Sainik School Imphal Alumni Association (SSIAA) Adventure Club from January 11 to 13 for making the village one of its destinations.
The rally highlighted the significance of eco-tourism and home-stay.
It is the first time that Khamasom Phungdhar village has hosted a large team of visitors, said a statement of chairman Khamasom Phungdhar village today.
As part of the Goodwill Car Rally, the alumni of the institution and their families experienced and enquired about the hardships the villagers are facing.
Concerned with the scarcity of water in the village, the participants of the rally presented the village with two pumps.
The team also organised counselling and blood sample collection in partnership with Babina Diagnostic for detecting Hepatitis C, said the statement.
During the their stay in the Khamasom, the villagers interacted on wide range of subjects.
One of the most important features the villagers learned is the concept of 'home-stay', which can be developed as an income generating programme at the village level with limited resources, said the statement of the village chairman.
