Senapati, December 15 2018:
Beefing up its efforts to identify the mysterious predator which killed 11 ducks and a dog in two separate incidents in Senapati DHQ, Senapati police has begun necessary investigation and strict surveillance.
A team of police led by SDPO Lakshya sharma, IPS thoroughly investigated the spots where the domestic animals were reportedly killed at Rikhumai Taphou on December 5 morning and December 8 at Emeshiiphro village.
Moreover, in the investigations at Emeshiiphro incident, the police team found that bloods were sucked out by the predator from the head of one year old white dog before brutally skinning off the head.
Other parts of the body remained intact.
Some of the ducks killed at Rikhumai Taphou bore stomach and chest wounds while in some cases heads were missing.
Both the cases were referred to Senapati District Forest officer and Veterinary Department for further investigation and findings.
Ever since the incidents, Senapati police has been patrolling in and around the DHQ areas especially during odd hours to avert any cases of the mysterious creatures appearing again.
The police appealed the general public to alert the police incase any similar incident occurred.
On the other hand, weeks after Wildlife Institute of India (WII) confirmed the involvement of "Dogs" in the mysterious killing of domesticated animals through recorded videos and pictures in Imphal valley and Churchandpur districts, a similar proof has appeared to probably support the WII finding in Senapati DHQ.
According to a reliable source, on December 11 at around 2 am at District Council Colony (Poulea), Maruti showroom owner Titus found two dogs ferociously attacking a healthy duck.
The duck was saved after the dogs were shooed away by the alerted neighbours.
The two dogs belongs to Chinavei of Laii while the duck belongs to Dale of Phuba.
