Gaikhangam inspects condition of Manipur Police Training School (MPTS)
Exhorts policemen to maintain discipline

Home Minister G Gaikhangam today inspected the existing infrastructural conditions at Manipur Police Training School (MPTS) and assured development in the most accurate manner.
Accordingly, the Home Minister has given necessary instructions to the authority concerned for doing the needful.
Accompanied by officials of Home Department including DGP Ratnakar Baral and Principal Secretary (Home) Suresh Babu, Gaikhangam inspected the condition of MPTS and Forensic Science Laboratory at Pangei.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the inspection, Home Minister G Gaikhangam observed that thought the existing condition of MPTS cannot be termed as sub-standard; nevertheless, there is the need for developing of its infrastructures.
Informing that there is already an approval for upgrading MPTS into a college, the Home Minister assured that the required infrastructures for developing the institute at the level of a college would be taken up very soon.
The Home Minister said that he has learnt that MPTC has been facing acute shortage of power.
So, to overcome this problem, the Home Department would be tying up with the Power Department.
The kitchens, barracks, godown and the campus of MPTC also need to be repaired and necessary works would be carried out shortly, Gaikhangam further assured.
He noted that Forensic Science laboratory building, which is an integral part of MPTS, is not in tune with the changing time and there has been proposal for construction of a new building.
While addressing the police personnel who are undergoing training, the Home Minister exhorted them to have a sense of sacrifice and at the same time maintain discipline.
The team first inspected the barracks of the police trainees and found it to be in worst condition as the barracks have worn away with time.
The also found the kitchen with no rack and the vegetables and other edible items placing on the floor.
Afterward, the team inspected the condition of the hospital located withn the campus of MPTS and instructed the authority concerned to look into the condition of the beds.
