State Assembly election : Draft electoral roll to be published on Sep 7

The
Election Commission of India
(ECI) team which visited the
State to oversee the
arrangements of the State
Assembly election to be held in
the early part of next year has
approved publication of the
draft electoral rolls of all the 60
Assembly segments of the
State on September 7.
According to an official
source, Information Technol-
ogy will be used to monitor
the poll processes at all the
polling stations.
The source said that the
final electoral rolls would be
published on January 5 next
year.
The ECI team led by
Deputy Election Commis-
sioner Sandip Saxena directed
the State authority to concen-
trate on poll preparations by
completing the transfer and
posting related works of
those officials who would be
directly involved in the said
election including those who
are enjoying home posting
and officials who are being
posted at the same place for
three years within this month.
The source further said that
the team also directed the
Election Officers of some dis-
tricts to make some
rectifications in their district
election plans so as to match
with the guidelines of the
Election Commission.
The source said that a full
team of the Commission is
likely to visit the State to
oversee the poll preparations
in the first week of Septem-
ber.
Election and IT Depart-
ment officials would be sent
to receive training to webcast
the poll processes of all the polling stations on August 16, the source
added.
On the other hand, the visiting ECI team not only discussed
poll preparations with the Chief Secretary and DGP but also met
Income Tax officials separately today.
Moreover, apart from discussing the matter of providing
internet connections to all the polling stations with BSNL
officials, the team also met the Election Nodal Officers of
Police, Transport Department, DP and PWD.
The team also discussed with the officials concerned on
whether the election would be held in phase-wise and security
measures, the source added.
