Imphal, December 09 2022:
Khwairamband Keithel Street Vendors' Welfare Union (Kh.K.S.V.W.U) has cautioned of intense protests if the authorities concerned fail to implement the order of the Government by December 13, 2022 to let the street vendors vend in the Temporary Market on a rotationalbasis.
Addressing media persons during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today, Union president L Beda informed that 'an order was issued by Imphal Municipal Corporation Administrator, M Joy Singh on October 17, 2022 directing the street vendors to vend in the Temporary Market on a rotational basis' .
'However some street vendors have defied the orders of the IMC by prohibiting the entry of other street vendors in the Temporary Market by even going to the extent of spending the night at the market', she alleged.
She appealed to the authorities concerned and MAHUD Minister to bring an amicable solution where all the street vendors are given a chance to vend in the Temporary Market considering their plights and the chaotic state which has been prevailing over the period of past few months.
Lastly she cautioned to take up intense protests including hunger strike and so on if the order to allow the street vendors to sit in the Temporary Market on a rotational basis is not implemented by December 13, 2022 .
