Imphal, September 08 2012:
With a number of its politicians involved in corruption cases, the Congress will have no chance to return in power at the Centre in the next Parliamentary Election, which is likely to be preponed in 2013 as against the earlier scheduled in 2014, President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Shantikumar Sharma has contended.
Speaking at a reception function hosted in honour of Tongminthang Lhungdim, ADC member of Churachandpur who has been inducted to the party, Shantikumar said that not just well-known Congress leaders but also Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh himself has been charged with involvement in various corruption cases including the infamous 'Coalgate' scandal involving Rs 1.86 lakh crores.
He further stated that since the involvement of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in the 'Coalgate' scandal has been pointed out in the report of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), there can be no denial over the matter.

The fact that the Prime Minister himself has been trying his level best to free himself from the issue only goes to show his admittance.
With this latest 'Coalgate' scandal, the people have made known their displeasure for continuation of Congress in power in no uncertain term.
On the other hand, there are already signs of split within the UPA.
In fact, in states like UP and Andhra Pradesh, the people have voted against the Congress and started relying on NDA, Shantikumar said.
In Manipur as well, there has been a drastic change in the political scenario with many renowned politicians of the state joining BJP while others have already make known their desires.
It is because of the 10th Schedule of Indian Constitution that MLAs and Ministers have not come out openly to join the party, Shantikumar asserted.
The function was also attended by Yanglet Haokip, General Secretary, BJP, Manipur Pradesh; Lhunkhojang Haokip, President, BJP, Churachandpur District and other State BJP members.
