FEGOCTA underlines appointment of Regular Principal in Govt colleges

Federation of Government College Teachers Association (FEGOCTA) organised a felicitation programme for the newly appointed Government College Principals at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound today.
Delivering key note address at the occasion, FEGOCTA general secretary Dr N Somorendro expressed thankful to the Education Minister, Higher Education Department, Commissioner (Higher Education) andMPSC for appointing Regular Principals and a large number of teachers for Government colleges after a long time.
He said that appointment of required Regular Principals and Assistant Professors of Government colleges to ensure quality education has been the demand of the association.
He noted that Regular Principals are the means for qualitative transformation of collegiate education and also for career advancement opportunities of the Government college teachers including the Director of Directorate of University and Higher Education.

FEGOCTA has been in the forefront in dealing with the issues of Government college teachers and their welfare, dignity and collective reputation.
As a new academic and intellectual movement, the association stands for holistic change and is committed to the growth and excellence in higher education for a progressive Manipur, he maintained.
He elaborated that FEGOCTA also provides inputs for the implementation of National higher education policies in the State and also to the Government of India.
while making the policies.
Every year, the association organises academic activities like seminar and conferences in collaboration with different college/institutions.
Such academic activities are necessities as per UGC, NAAC, RUSA etc, he added.
He pointed out that multiple challenges like effective teaching learning, proper establishment of Dhanamanjuri University, accreditation/reaccreditation of colleges by NAAC, 7th pay implementation, filing up of vacant posts of non-teaching staff etc are the issues of the denial of the allowances of SCA and TA, promotion of teachers, pay slips etc.
He reminded that as a social responsibility act and on FEGOCTA's initiative, the college teachers contributed to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund when natural disasters took place in 2016 and 2017 in the State.
On invitation FEGOCTA provided academic and intellectual inputs/views on crucial issues like ILPS, Framework Agreement etc, he continued.
He also informed that FEGOCTA is planning to start publication of books and research journals soon.
The newly appointed Assistant Professors have to undergo one orientation course and one refresher course within four years for PhD, in five years for M Phil and six years for M.Sc/MA, Dr Somorendro conveyed.
Altogether 12 Regular Principals and 236 Assistant Professors were felicitated during the event.
FEGOCTA president Dr A Pishak Singh; founder president L Randhoni Devi and advisor Dr H Indrakumar were also present at the function as the presidium members.
