Three more die, 159 newly infected

Covid-19 has claimed three more lives and infected 159 more people in the state in the last 24 hours.
Government bulletins on Friday reported that the 159 new positive cases were detected out of 2821 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 5.64 per cent against Thursday's 6.81 per cent.
Though the positivity rate is below 6 per cent, Pherzawl (10.9 per cent) and Tengnoupal (10 per cent) recorded double digit positivity rate while Imphal West district reported 8.7 per cent.
The active caseload came down to 2232 out of which 388 (17.38 per cent) are in home isolation, 817 (36.60 per cent) in CHICs, 642 (28.76 per cent) in CCCs and 385 (17.25 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 71 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 99 are on oxygen support and 28 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 161 patients.
On the other hand, there are eight patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Friday evening, 557 beds including 112 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.
There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Thursday evening 2828 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 376 beds (28 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 91,343 positive cases and 1484 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic out of which 1298 new cases and 15 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 159 new positive cases (73 male & 86 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (5), JNIMS (18) and other testing centres (136).The positive cases are from Imphal East (35), Imphal West (84), Thoubal (7), Bishnupur (5), Ukhrul (3), Churachandpur (7), Chandel (1), Senapati (3), Tengnoupal (5), Pherzaw] (5), Tamenglong (3) and Kangpokpi (1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The three fatalities reported in the last 24 hours were from Imphal West (1) and Imphal East (2) and none of them were vaccinated against Covid-19.With the three death cases, the cumulative number of fatalities due to Covid-19 has reached 1858.In the last 24 hours, 187 patients were discharged from home isolation (64), RIMS (15), JNIMS (7), CCCs (87) and CHICs (l4).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,20,743 (general population 1,16,457 and CAPF personnel - 4,286).Number of recovered cases is 1,16,653 (general population - 1,12,399 and CAPF personnel - 4,254) and number of active cases is 2,232 (general population - 2,205 and CAPF personnel - 27).The recovery rate is 96.61 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1123 D-type and 350 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Only 2811 Covid-19 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday and the cumulative number of vaccinated people has reached 12,23,626 including 4,79,276 fully vaccinated individuals.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (41,619), Imphal East (26,706), Thoubal (9330), Churachandpur (10,049), Kangpokpi (2756), Tamenglong (3262), Bishnupur (9011), Senapati (2203), Ukhrul (2746), Kakching (6349), Chandel (2286), Noney (1060), Tengnoupal (1044), Jiribam (1015), Kamjong (865) and Pherzawl (442) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (617), Imphal East (439), Thoubal (169), Churachandpur (158), Kangpokpi (59), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (187), Senapati (9), Ukhrul (33), Kakching (110), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 38,912 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,179 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,20,156 tests per million population against the national average of 4,08,388 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2821 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 5.64 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.26 per cent.
