'Role of NGOs, health workers in eradicating TB important'

To completely eradicating TB from grass root level is in the hand of NGOs, health workers and link works, said C Arthur.
W, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong during the closing function of two days Direct Observance Treatment, DOT provider training held at District Tuberculosis Control Centre, Tamenglong organized by District Tuberculosis Control Society Tamenglong under Revised National Tuberculosis Control programme.
He said that as DOT provider have close contact with the affected patients, DOT providers play a great role to give awareness and completely eradicate the tuberculosis which is now completely curable through DOT.
While giving out certificate to the DOT provider trainers, C.Arthur W IAS Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong urged all the DOT providers to work with sincerely and full commitment.
Speaking as Guest of Honour, Gaithaorung Kamei Chief Medical Officer, Tamenglong urged the DOT provider trainer to share knowledge with the family members and villages to be aware and know about the diseases.
He also requested to work with sincerity and dedicated soul to eradicate TB.
The District Tuberculosis Officer, Dr Chambo Gonmei in his key note address mentioned there are four Designated Microscopic Centre in the district where six NGOs including DBS, IWCF, Unleash Vision, LGMT, IFORD and AWARE are working with the health department to eradicate the disease.
In the meantime, the District Tuberculosis Control Society Tamenglong has completed 1st phase of school tuberculosis campaign.
The DTCS visited five schools in the district from 24- 28 September.
"As youths are the agent of the change we have conducted school TB campaign under the theme TB is completely curable through DOT process", Dr Chambo Gonmei said.
He said the DTCS has plans to go to interior villages in the near future.
He also urged the DOT providers to work sincerity with self dedicated even thought the honorarium is very small.
