Consultation on Hep-C training module for HCWs held

A day-long consultation workshop on the Finalization of Hepatitis C Training Module for Health Care Workers so as to have a standard protocol on the training methodology was organized by Community Network for Empowerment (CoNE) in consultation with Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Manipur at R&D Wing auditorium, Lamphelpat today .
The consultation workshop which was supported by Coalition PLUS was attended by representatives of the Health Department, regional health and family welfare training institute, officials from RIMS, JNIMS, MACS, State TB Cell and other private health institutions unanimously adopted a number of resolutions .
The consultation meet unanimously resolved to highly recommend the draft Hepatitis C Training Module to be used for training for health care workers of the State at various Government health care settings with slight modifications in the initial stage as per the feedbacks and suggestions from experts during the consultation and further see that the same module can be used as state's own training module for all time to come .
Earlier while pointing out the objectives of the consultation meet, CoNE president Rk Nalinikanta informed that the consultative meet has been organised as part of its initiative to improve Hep-C prevention and treatment access in the State .
He said that the draft module has been prepared considering the need to reduce myths and misconceptions existing among the health care workers of the State regarding Hepatitis C .
The module was drafted initially by CoNE by engaging resource persons from outside the State, he added .
He also expressed gratitude to the The Regional Health and Family Welfare Training Institute (RH&FWT), Government of Manipur for providing feedback and inputs to the draft training module and developing a power point presentation of it .
Regional Health and Family Welfare Training Institute principal Dr O Sanahanbi Devi presented the PPP of the draft training module and explained its contents to the officials present during the meeting .
Additional director (Public Health) Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang who moderated over the open discussion of the consultation, after discussing in detail over the draft training module highly recommended it and instructed the representatives of CoNE to go ahead with the training module at Government health care setting after some omissions and additions as suggested by the experts present during the meeting .
State TB officer Y Gopalkrishna, Deputy Director (Public Health) Dr N Somorjit, RH&FWT Junior epidemiologist Dr Ak Swarnprani, RH&FWT medical lecturer cum demonstrator (MLCD), Microbiology Department TB Cell director Dr W Sashi Singh, MACS deputy director (TI) Abhiram Mongjam, Dr Kh Lokeshwar of JNIMS Medicine Department, Dr Romeo of RIMS and Dr Goldie Longjam consultant Gastroenterologist of Shija Hospital and Research Institute were also present at the consultation meet.
