AMBSU demands introduction of Bengali in primary schools

Demanding the implementation of the provision of the Section
29(2) (f) of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Edu-
cation Act 2009, the All Manipur Bengali Students' Union
(AMBSU) submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister O Ibobi
Singh through the Additional DC of Jiribam today.
The memorandum urged the State Government to imple-
ment Bengali language as the medium of instruction in Lower
Primary Schools of Bengali inhabited areas in Jiribam.
It also
urged to provide text books published in Bengali script,
conduct Bengali medium TET examination and employ atleast
150 Bengali medium TET teachers in the lower primary schools.
The memorandum further demanded that the eligible cri-
teria for the Bengali medium TET exam must be 45 per cent
in the HSSLC exam or equivalent exam or 45 per cent in
BA/BSc for those who had opted Bengali language as their
makor language in HSLC or HSSLC exams.
