Film screening held

The films submitted for the first 'Khapri International Manipuri Short Fiction Festival' were screened today at the auditorium of Manipur Press Club.
An expert panel of 10 prominent Manipuri film personalities screened the 24 short films submitted for the competition in two sessions today at the MPC auditorium.
Rakesh Naorem, convenor of the festival said the festival is being organised with an aim to showcase the hardship faced by humanity as a whole to the whole world.
Khwairakpam Bishwamitra, director of the festival said at the screening event that this is the first time a short fiction film festival is being organised at the International level and it surely will give a new boost to the young and new filmmakers of the State.
He also urged the public to take part in future film festivals.
Films including 'Nongyai' directed by Soraisam Upol of Bangladesh, 'Sintha' directed by Somor Luwang of Assam, 'Thawaidi Halaklaroi' directed by Ashutosh and 'Chatna Kanglon' directed by Thangjam Ratal, both from Tripura, were screened today.
20 short films from Manipur were also screened today including 'Kadomdano Punshi' by Kh Obin; 'Henthoi' by Upendro; 'Cheinakhol' by Sunil Mayengbam; 'Mayoknarashi' and 'Pambei Thisi' by Shori Wahengbam; 'Lockdown' by Seityabati Elangbam; 'Corona Nang Leiramdrabadiko' by Somraj Wahengbam; 'Distance' and 'Minok Ama' by Romance; 'Wakhalgi Sambal' by M Somendro; 'The Challenge' by B Roji Devi; Lairabagi Pankheida', 'Eteimagi Lepching' and 'Ningshing Khubam' by Warjit Moirangthem; 'Cheksinsi Eikhoi' by Kh Chinglen; 'Khongthang' by Gulshan Mangang; 'Cheitheng' by John Irom; 'Cheithengdugi Mangal' by Dhanaraj Khomdram; 'Uchekkumna Painingi' by Jko Khuraijam and 'Thoibi' by Rajen Leishangthem.
The winners in various categories of the festival organised by Ipak Films Production will be declared on February 16 and the prize distribution will be held on 'International Mother Language Day' to be celebrated on February 21 .
