Kangpokpi, August 29 2018:
Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi, Dr Rangitabali Waikhom (IAS) drove down the slippery, bumpy and unsteady Chawangkining - Gorkha Tapon road to cheer up the people of Harup villagers to address their grievances prior to "Go to Village" programme which will be conducted very soon in the areas.
Even a single slip and shaking could land the 4x4 vehicle they were travelling into a deep down gorge but she dared to seat in the front row and reached the alleged 'forsaken' Harup area to choke out their grievances.
On the journey, she was accompanied by SDC (HQ) Kaigoulal Kipgen (Jr MCS) and his subordinate staffs along with a team of Kangpokpi Police led by inspector N Thangjamuan OC Kangpokpi while the local populace greets the DC with love and cheers on their arrival.
She was surprised to know that her visit is a first of its kind for a bureaucrat to reach such far flung area after so many years of hardships while the villagers expressed their happiness to see their Deputy Commissioner for the first time in their areas.
In a simple reception program, she sincerely took note of the grievances put up by the people and assured mem that the priority needs of the people will be delivered in the "Go to Village" programme which will be conducted very soon in the areas for the people.
She also said that the "Go to Village" programme has already been scheduled but it has to be deferred owing to the terrible weather condition compounded by the present road condition which is not in a position for the traveler to attend the programme satisfactorily while cheering up the people that they were very much part of the District Administration and the Government will take neccessary measures for the development of the area.
DC Kangpokpi was also seen chatting and enjoying with the womenfolk of the areas in one corner of Harup Naga village playground before having a few good snap with the villagers to keep as a memorabilia of her visit to the areas and its people.
The "Go to Village" programme for the area is likely to be held in mid October or November during winter season.
