Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) and All Zeliangrong Students' Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) have submitted a memorandum to the NSCN/GPRN to initiate necessary steps to stop the illegal logging in Chaka/Kanem Zeliangrong areas.
In a statement, AZSU and ZB submitted a memorandum to NSCN-GPRN, Hebron stating NSCN/GPRN Kilo Affairs has banned total logging in the disputed land in February 2016 .
However, the commander of Huthrong Brigade and some of its cadres started logging illegally with vested interest group(s).
When the landowners protested the action, they were summoned to their camp on April 18 2016 and made to sign a "Bond of Agreement" .
In the pretext of solving the disputed land of Chaka/Kanem and Razaima which is under the jurisdiction of Zeliangrong land, the armed NSCN/GPRN cadres are involved in illegal logging operations, the memorandum stated.
The memorandum urged to transfer the commander, ranks and files of NSCN/GPRN cadres of Huthrong Brigade involved in illegal logging and withdraw all the machinery used in logging.
It also urged to revoke "Bond of Agreement" which was signed forcefully.
