Passenger carriers suspend service in Patsoi

Passenger carriers operating in Patsoi area have indefinitely suspended service after the drivers were asked not to increase the fare.
M Tiken, assistant secretary, Sagolband Transport Corporative Society said that driver associations operating in Patsoi area have resolved not to operate service in due to fare hike issue.
He said, "Due to UNC's economic there is shortage of fuel supply.
As a result, drivers would sometimes purchase fuel in black market at Rs 110 per litre.
As such, the fare was increase from Rs 10 to Rs 20 and sometimes Rs 30 if the destination is quite far" .
Some local associations have been asking the drivers not to hike the fare which sometimes cannot be accepted.
There are around 700 autos, Tata Magics and Tata Iris operating under Shiroi Society, Sagolband Transport Corporative Society, New Cachar Road Transport Association and Imphal-Noney Transport Association in Patsoi area.
