Imphal, January 27 2014:
In addition to its ongoing cease work strike which has been going on since December 17, Joint Co-ordinating Committee (JCC) of All Manipur Municipal Employees' and Workers' Union (AMME & WU) and Imphal Municipal Employees' Union (IMEU) will be coming up with more intense agitations to press the demand for implementation of 6th Pay Commission for workers of Imphal Municipal Council.
Speaking to media persons on January 25, Ph Chaoba, secretary of the JCC, said the demand of the workers which is legitimate has fallen on deaf ears and added that owing to the cease work, the State Government has been compelled to hire workers from JNRUM for cleaning work of Imphal city.
He pledged that the JCC will continue with its strike until the demand is met and informed that its proposed hunger strike was lifted following assurance given by the Chief Secretary but the assurance has not been fulfilled.
