Poachers pulled up

Imphal, November 26 2012:
Two individuals including an Assam Rifles personnel have been pulled up by police and wildlife activists for hunting and killing wild animals.
According to information culled from Wildlife Wing of Forest Department, two individuals were found hunting/shooting wild birds at Keirenphabi near Keibul Lamjao National Park this afternoon.
Officials of Keibul Lamjao National Park were informed about the hunting by one villager.
Immediately, the officials swung into action and pulled up the two hunters together with personnel of Keibul police station and volunteers of Sangai Protection Forum.
The apprehended hunters have been identified as Md Salimuddin (26) and Md Amucha alias Wahauddin (27), both from Kwakta Santhong.
One dead Ushai Shaingou (Grey Heron), two dead Ushai Shaingang (Purple Heron), one live Urok (Cattle Egret) shot dead by the duo, one single barrel rifle, one live round and six spent cartridges were recovered from them.
It is been established that Md Amucha is a personnel of 8th AR posted in Tripura.
He is currently on leave.
One pulsar motorcycle rode by the duo has also been seized and they have been handed over to Moirang police station.
On the other hand, proprietor of the M/S SK & OBS Cafe which reportedly offered wild boar and porcupine meat at the Sangai Festival has been remanded to police custody after he was produced before the Court of CJM, Imphal East today.
