IRCC to celebrate Irabot Day

Irabot Research and Commemoration Committee (IRCC), Manipur will celebrate the 115th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot at Thau ground on September 30 .
In a press conference held in this regard at its office, IRCC Chairman RK Rajendra Singh said, the movements carried forward by Irabot were ambitious campaigns which went in tandem with the changing time.
Irabot crusaded against feudal system, untouchability and expansionism on phase wise, he added.
He minutely understood the various contradictions prevailing during his time, Rajendra said and added that Irabot planned his movements according to the changing time and situation.
Celebration of Irabot's birth anniversary would serve its purpose only when people adopt his philosophy in the current time, he added.
The chairman further said, the current generation must learn the importance of party unity and mechanisms of ethnic contradiction and national unity from the late leader.
He further said that even though there may be some inconvenience in adopting his age old philosophy in the current time, but it could be renewed by applying creative thoughts.
On the issue of Sadar Hills and imposition of prolonged economic blockade, Rajendra said that districts must be created for administrative convenience but not on ethnic and communal lines.
He also observed that imposition of economic blockade for an extended period of time is amount to crime against humanity.
He also pointed out that past and present hill leaders are responsible for backwardness in the hill districts of Manipur.
Taking part in the press conference, Advocate Thoungamba said, march-past competition of students, band display and cultural programmes would be the main attractions of the Irabot Day celebration to be held at Thau ground.
