Imphal, August 23 2020:
Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM) has categorically stated that certain politicians switching parties at this trying time is very condemnable.
Speaking to media persons, PLMPAM president Longjam Memchoubi said that the State's native is hit hard by the prolonged lockdown and curfew that restricts activities since late March, this year.
Declaring several areas, Police Stations and hospitals as containment zones compound the suffering of people, she said adding that hospitals denying treatment to patients are also reported frequently these days in fear of COVID-19 transmission.
Saying that selling/abusing drugs and liquor by certain people during this pandemic period is another risk factor for COVID transmission, Memchoubi lamented that drugs are widely available in the State even today, despite the lockdown/curfew imposed and repeated seizure by the security force and CSOs.
Who and from where are all these drugs brought into the State, she asked and appealed all to extend their helping hands to root out drug-related problems from the State.
A few people, including an expectant mother, died due to negligence of the healthcare workers recently, Memchoubi recalled and urged the State Government and department concerned to reflect on the incident so that such unfortunate incidents don't repeat.
Saying that PLMPAM strongly condemns the ruling as well as Opposition parties for the political instability that is seen in the State, today, Memchoubi asserted that collective effort is needed to defeat this pandemic.
