Kangpokpi, June 23 2016:
The Kuki Students' Organization-GHQ has decided to withdraw the proposed 24 hours total bandh along Imphal-Moreh road today.
The decision to withdraw the proposed 24 hours total bandh along Imphal-Moreh road against the alleged recklessness of the State police commandos towards two Kuki youths along the road yesterday night came after an assurance of the State Government to fulfil the demand of the student body today.
The student body had demanded suspension of those police commandos involved in harassing and looting the two youths within 24 hours while warning to impose a 24 hour total bandh along Imphal- Moreh road from June 24 if the State Government fails to act accordingly.
KSO-GHQs, Gen Secy Seiboi Haokip said that IGP Clay Khongsai on behalf of the State Government assured to consider their demand during a meeting at Imphal today.
Therefore, keeping faith in the assurance of the IGP "we have decided to withdraw the proposed 24 hours total bandh along Imphal-Moreh road which was scheduled to begin on June 24," he added.
However, the student body warned that it will take up any sort of agitation if the assurance does not materialize at the earliest.
