New branch, hostel opened

Renu Handloom & Handicraft Cooperative Society Limited has opened a new branch and a hostel for weavers at Thadou Baptist Association India (TBAI) complex at Motbung Mission Lane, Kangpokpi district, today.
The inaugural ceremony organised by Thadou Baptist Association India (TBAI) Women Department was attended by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies cum Youth Affairs and Sports Director, Armstrong Pame, Motbung Village's Chief, SL Kaikhosei and secretary of Renu Handloom & Handicraft Co-operative Society Limited (RHHCSL), Arambam Renu as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
On the occasion, A Renu said that RHHCSL has opened 40 branches, including branches in Kohima employing about 4,500 people.

Saying that about Rs 38 lakh was spent without any assistance from the Government in the construction of the new branch and hostel in addition to procuring machines for weaving, A Renu expressed confidence that the new branch will strengthen the sisterly relation and bridge the gap between the hills and valley people.
The hostel can accommodate 200 persons and the branch has 32 embroidery machines.
The branch has capacity to house 50 machines (looms), she added anticipating Government's assistance for further growth of the branch.
A Renu also claimed that the handlooms and handicraft products are exported to Europe, USA, Japan etc.
The society now has a showroom in Bangladesh, she said and added that another will be opened at Guwahati in August to expand the reach.
To divert the minds of the youth from drugs and to provide them skills, a new project to train young boys on cane and bamboo craft is being taken up, she said.
