The 60th AC Singat MLA .T.Hangkhanpau was accorded a warm welcome today at Singat Thadou Veng Community Hall in a reception function held in his honour by Singat Solam Tuitha Area Chiefs Association.
The function began with trumpet salutation with opening paryer by Upa Zamgou pastor KCC Singat.
There was also blessing prayer arranged by Singat Solam Area Chiefs Association blessing prayer led by Rev.L Etpu Kipgen KBC Parish No-10 Singat reading the Bible scriptures from Genesis Chapter -35 and Psalm 91.16 along with 23 Chiefs who participated in the reception function.
The 16 village Chiefs also presented traditional shawls to MLA.
T.Hangkhanpau led by Jamlet Haokip Social worker.
Speaking at the function MLA T.Hangkhanpau in his speech said that Singat constituency is very unlucky that there has been no Minister from the constituency so far and also that on one has been elected for two consecutive terms from Signat constituency elected, he lamented.
If anyone is elected MLA for two consecutive terms there is a chance of getting a cabinet Ministership in the near future, Hangkhanpau assured the gathering.
He further lamented that out of 60 MLAS' only 12 cabinet Ministers are allowed and stressed the difference between the power of an MLA to that of a minister.
He went on to says that if he is given ministerial berth, more work can be done saying that present Ministers are holding three Departments simultaneously and annually around Rs 200 crore is being sanctioned in one Government department.
Since Singat constituency is a mixture of various communities, he will tried his best for peace and communal harmony between various communities as an MLA he assured his Kendra people.
While speaking to his Kendra people, he urged the people to choose senior people to be their MLA saying that he himself is also senior figure in state politics and appealed to his Kendra people not to be misled by rumour saying that a person who do not know how to enter secretariat is elected as MLA what could that person do for the people of his constituency, he asked.
Gospel singers Evan.Jeff Akai and Miss Chachan Haokip the duo also sung gospel song during the function held to day.
T Hangkhanpau presented red blanket to blessing Minister Rev.Letpu Kipgen KBC-Parish No-10 Singat as a token of respect and gratitude.
The programme concluded with a feast arranged by Singat Solam Tuitha Area Chiefs Association.
