Hotel Centre Point banned

Furthering the moral policing drive to prevent unwanted sexual crime and violence in the State, seven civil organizations namely Kanglei Ima Lup, Chanura Lamjing Lup Kangleipak, IPSA, FREINDS, ACOAM Lup, KSA and PANDAM jointly raided Hotel Centre Point located opposite to Nirmalabas High School at Thangal Bazar here today.
The volunteers of the organizations apprehended five persons including a personnel of Manipur Rifles from the hotel for immoral conduct.
However, the IRB personnel managed to escape from the hotel.
Subsequently, the organizations imposed an indefinite ban and closed down the hotel.
The apprehended persons also included three women and a non-Manipuri who works as a waiter in the hotel.
The escaped MR personnel has been identified as Md Tarik Ahmad (28) of Lilong Uku Maning.
President of Kanglei Ima Lup RK Sanahanbi stated that the raid was conducted to check immoral activities in the heart of Imphal City.
The organizations would prevent unwanted sexual crime and violence in the State by banning restaurants and hotels that encourage immoral activities.
One lady aged 30 years from Tamenglong who was apprehended during the raid said that she was not involved in any immoral activity.
She had just arrived from Dimapur and halted at Hotel Centre Point as there was no bus service to Tamenglong due to the bandh called by KSO.
Another middle-aged lady from Ukhrul said that she had come to the Hotel as one of her friends who is an IRB personnel invited her for a cup of tea when they suddenly met at Thangal Bazar, adding that she had nothing to do with the immoral flesh trade.
