Distribution of free LPG set, connection marks Ujjwala Diwas celebration

In view of the observation of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana celebrated across the country, the day was also celebrated at different districts of the State.
The Ujjwala Diwas for Chandel district was observed at Aihang village.
This scheme aims to provide LPG connection to 15000 places across, the length and breadth of the country.
As a part of the function, YAS Minister Letpao Haokip, who attended as chief guest, distributed LPG sets (including each a gas cylinder, a gas stove and other necessary equipments) to 64 women beneficiaries in the district.
Letpao appealed the public especially the womenfolk to select LPG connections while adding that positive outcome will come if they choose LPG connections over traditional use of cooking and in turn curb air pollution and environment degradation.
Later, SDO Chandel Sidharth briefed the gathering on the health and environmental benefits of using LPG connections.
Meanwhile, the day was also celebrated at Katomei Centre, Community Hall at Senapati District today.
Raj Kumar, SDO Senapati opined that although LPG cooking gas was introduced in the country 50 years back, the percentage of LPG users among villagers are very low owing to traditional practices like using fire woods for cooking.
The function was organised by the M/S Senapati Indane Services under the aegis of the Indian Oil.
Duna Duo, SDC, Senapati and Athili, proprietor, M/S Senapati Indane Service were also present in the function.
The Ujjwala Divas celebration was also held at Awontang Shimva Community Hall, Ukhrul district by Zingsho gas agency, Ukhrul.
The heredity headman Hunphun/Ukhrul village HA Sarimaya who attended as chief guest of the function said that the scheme has benefited many BPL families in the district.
The nationwide movement for smokeless kitchen and empowerment of women and children under the banner clean fuel, better life through Ujjwala Divas scheme provides several benefits at length, says the headman.
According to reports, free LPG connection for 86 villages were the target within May under the Ujjwala scheme.
Women from BPL families can apply for the scheme online or by collecting a form from the distributors office, which requires their tribes certificate.
As part of the Ujjwala Divas celebration, Zingsho Gas service distributed free LPG connection to 20 women and also donated one LPG set for Hunphun /Ukhrul village.
Demonstration for safety handling of LPG was held during the function.
The programme was attended by councillor HA Vareishang, DC, Ukhrul Dr Harmit Singh Pahuja and a members of monitoring team Ujjwala Divas Venkataraman Hedge Director Ministry of civil aviation, Premzalal Pulamte Under Secretary, Ministry of chemical.
Meanwhile, 100 beneficiaries in Heirok AC were provided With LPG connection by Heirok gas agency under PMUY in view of the Ujjwala Diwas celebration.
The LPG connection was distributed at Nongpok Ningthou Laikol, Salungpham in the presence of Heirok AC MLA as well as Labour and Employment Minister, Th Radheshyam.
Speaking to media persons, the local MLA pointed out that more than 400 beneficiaries in Heirok have availed the LPG connection and assured that the left out beneficiaries will also receive their LPG connection without fail.
On the other hand, M/S Athokpam Indane Service also celebrated the day at the office of the gas agency in Thoubal Athokpam.
DC, Haobam Rosita, SDO Thoubal, M Veto, BJP Manipur Pradesh in charge Thoubal L Tejkumar and BJP Thoubal district president L Deben attended the event as dignitaries.
Proprietor of the agency, Budhi enlightened the beneficiaries and the people gathered at the event on usage of gas equipments; benefits of LPG etc.
Later, the dignitaries distributed gas connection to 140 beneficiaries.
MLA of Wangkhem AC, K Meghachandra distributed LPG connection to 200 beneficiaries through Yairipok gas seryice.
M/S Emoinu gas agency today observed Ujjwala Diwas at its office in Babupura, Jiribam under the banner "Safety Clinic And LPG Panchayat Ujjwala Diwas (PMUY) Programme".
100 beneficiaries were provided free LPG connections with Gas sets (stove and cylinder).
Speaking at the event, Kh Janaki Devi who attended the event as chief guest said the event and the scheme PMUY will benefit the poor section of Jiribam.
The scheme was introduced for poor section of the people who could not afford LPG connection on their own, said Robert Ksh.
M Priyokumar Singh highlighted the various rights of consumers and the roles they play.
K Gobadhon Meetei, manager M/S Emoinu Gas Agency, urged people to use gas connection safely.
Adhyakshya Jiribam district, DC Jiribam Robert Kshetrimaydm, general secretary Consumer Forum Jiribam M Priyokumar Singh, Manager M/S Emoinu gas agency Jiribam K Gobadhon Meetei and DSO FCS Jiribam A Somorendro Singh attended the event as presidium members.
Kangpokpi district also joins the State in the celebration of Ujjwala Diwas its District Headquarters Kangpokpi.
Organized by M/S JS Indane Gas Service, Kangpokpi in collaboration with CAF& PD, Kangpokpi district, ADC Sadar Hills Chairman, Haokholal Hangshing graced the celebration as chief guest while Hevah Kipgen, AD, CAF & PD, Kangpokpi district, L Ibochouba Singh, District Supply Officer, CAF& PD, Kangpokpi, Phalpichong Hangshing, Inspector, CAF& PD, Kangpokpi District attended.
As part of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, free gas connections was provided to 38 beneficiaries under PMUY by the ADC Sadar Hills Chairman and DSO, CAF& PD, Kangpokpi District.
L Ibochouba Singh, DSO, CAF & PD, Kangpokpi district, said that, encouraged by the success of the scheme, the revised modalities of PMUY has approved to increase PMUY coverage from existing 5 cr to 8 cr BPL households up to the FY 2019-2020 .
He further said that in the revised scheme, the selection of woman beneficiaries would be from the BPL families identified from the SECC list or BPL family covered under either one of the categories, i.e.SC/ST households, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), Anna Yojana (AAY), Forest dwellers, Most Backward Classes (MBC), Tea and Ex-Tea Garden Tribes, People residing in island & river islands.
According to the Proprietor, under M/s JS Indane Gas Service jurisdiction in Kangpokpi, 20 villages have been identified for smokeless village.
Ujjwala Diwas was also observed at Tupul Bazar community hall, Tupul & Lukhambi village, Longmai (Noney) district, organised by M/S Axial Indane (Rongdai) Nungba.
CEO ADC Tamenglong Dinganglung Gangmei and Gangonglung Khumba, Proprietor, M/S Axial Indiane Nungba were present in the gas connection distribution event.
The dignitaries distributed gas set and Ujjwala yellow card to 40 households/beneficiaries.
