Imphal, February 20 2018:
Chief Minister N Biren today informed the Manipur Legislative Assembly that the State Government has been considering about enforcing a regulation which would regulate use of loudspeakers in public places.
Responding to a call attention motion raised by Opposition Member Kh Joykisan, Biren noted that many festivals are celebrated in Manipur.
Loudspeakers are used till late night in the name of religion/tradition.
But high decibel sounds disturbing students in their studies needs to be checked and there is a growing need to enforce a regulation on using loudspeakers, Biren said.
The Government has entrusted the department concerned to publish a booklet which explains about zebra crossing, where to use gas horns and how to drive vehicles near schools.
These booklets would be distributed to all driving licence holders, Biren said.
Kh Joykisan said that loudspeakers used during festivals and high decibels sounds coming from big machines have been disturbing students preparing for exams.
