Seized liquor, tablets consigned to flame

Imphal, October 19 2011:
Around 70 litre of liquor and 313 capsules of banned pharmaceutical substances, which were confiscated during a joint drive launched by a police team led by OC in-charge of Porompat Police Station Chandrashekhar and volunteers of Apunba Nisha Thingba Lup last night, have been consigned to flame in the presence of general public and mediapersons this afternoon.
Talking to mediapersons on the sideline at the complex of Apunba Nisha Thingba Lup, Top Khongnangkhong Public Club, President of the Lup Keisham Robindro informed that the liquor was seized from the possession of five persons and the tablet capsules from two persons during a drive launched under the jurisdiction of the Lup last night.
All the seven persons from whom the liquor as well as the tablet capsules were recovered have been handed over to their respective family members after necessary advice against such acts in future.
Robindro said that he was unhappy to come across one physically challenged person selling liquor and assured that he would do everything within his capacity to rehabilitate the said individual.
