'AIDS awareness / World Forestry Day' celebrated at DBC Maram

Don Bosco College (Autonomous) Maram observed 'AIDS awareness cum World Forestry Day' at DBC Maram today.
The programme was attended by Th Kirankumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner; District Magistrate, Dr L Angshim Dangshawa Maring (IAS); Dr S Adaphro, DACO and Vedha P Kayinaon, DAPCU.
The rector of the college, Fr Jose Sebstian, SDB felicitated the dignitaries during the college assembly while Fr (Dr) KO Sebastian, Principal DBC Maram, welcomed them on the auspicious occasion.

Addressing the programme, Th Kirankumar said that with the outbreak of Covid-19, the number of HIV/AIDs cases have increased in the district.
He expressed his genuine concern for the youth and appealed to them to live a life of values, integrity and morality and not to indulge in any risky behaviour.
Later, a tree plantation programme was organised by the National Service Scheme (NSS) to mark the World Forestry Day under the leadership of Sr Sweta William CCV, Th Shyamsunder Luwang and John Britto.
Th Kirankumar planted a tree sapling and encouraged the college community to preserve the planted trees.
The theme of the World Forestry Day for 2021 is "Forest restoration: a path to recovery and well-being" .
