Workshop on safety management begins

A two-day workshop in 'Hospital Safety, Mass Casualty Management and Hospital disaster Management Planning' organised by Disaster Management Institute of Medical Directorate's Relief and Disaster Management Department in association with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) began from today at JNIMS Hospital conference hall.
As chief guest of the inauguration programme, NDMA member Dr Muzaffar Ahmad stating that personnel working at medical centres and hospitals need to remain on high alert to reduce human casualties in the event of natural disasters expressed that periodically conducting mock drills by experts of relief and disaster management agencies at hospitals and other places of public gathering would be helpful in tackling real life situation.
Speaking at the occasion, Principal Secretary (Health) Dr Suhel Akhtar while expressing that Hospital personnel attending the workshop would gain vital knowledge on means to face emergency situation in the event of natural disasters also emphasised that priority of the medical personnel should be on safety of the patients through swift evacuation and other safety measures.
Among others, JNIMS Director Dr M Shyamo, Medical Superintendent Dr W Gopimohan Singh and Family Welfare director Dr A Bijoy Singh also attended the inaugural session of the workshop in which Dr Tamarish Kole, Dr Ajay Desai, Dr Paresh Nawalkar and Lt Col Dr ACS Badhwar would be the resource persons.
About 100 personnel of Government as well as private hospitals and medical centres are taking part in the workshop.
