The meeting of the guardians held on October 14 last at Iboyaima Shanglen, Palace Compound was organized following strong pressure from the guardians, the All Manipur Students Guardians' Organization stated denouncing the allegation of organization of the meeting as preplan and under influence of some vested interest.
Briefing to media persons at its office at Palace Compuond, Imphal today, president, Rev Rehang Chothe reacting to the guardians' body by the three students' bodies with words which should not used by the students to their guardians through newspapers is not a good sign.
There come up many complaints from the guardians and parents concerning with students out of class for a prolong period of time.
As the organization was set up for looking after the welfare of the students, the meeting was held to know what the guardians are wanting.
Following the received of the complaints, the organization contacted with the Apunba Lup for several times to hold talks and discuss the situation.
But, despite repeated urged, the remained postponing the proposal.
If the three students willing then still there is time to hold talks and discuss the matter, Rehang added.
Advisor of the organization, RV Minthing who also attended the media briefing said no question of preplan or influencing the organization to take the decision of the meeting arises.
Taking serious note on suspension of class for long time, the organization came out only as "peace maker" to pave a way to end the ease the misunderstanding between the agitating group and government.
Working president N Choaba reiterating that the organization is working for the welfare of the students and bringing quality education in the state, the organization is not working in the interest of only for a section of the students but for the whole student communities.
Considering for the students who have been keeping out of class for more than 55 days since the protest against the July 23 shooting incident erupted, the guardians' body was compelled to take up some steps to end the deadlock.
Functionaries of the body did not used words which would hurt the sentiments of students' bodies.
Some guardians who are filled with emotion on remaining their children out of school used some excessive words but they tried their best to clam down them, Chaoba added.
The meeting resolved to urge the state government to press the government to make arrangement for re-opening of schools within October 21 and also to appeal the agitating students' bodies.
There is no reason to annoy by the students' bodies, he observed.
Advisors of the organization, N Tomba and H Kulla also attended the press briefing and share their reaction to the words put down by the three students' bodies to the guardians' body.
