Imphal, September 15, 2009:
The State Government has averred to take strict disciplinary actions including cancellation of affiliation against private schools that remain closed except on notified holidays in the wake of the class boycott calls given by some students' organisation.
While taking serious note of the closure of some private schools in response to calls by certain students' organisations, Commissioner of Education, PK Singh observed in a statement that the closure of private school which infringes on the right to Education of the children vitiates academic atmosphere in the state.
"It has been decided that any private school that remains closed, except on notified holidays, will be liable to strict action leading to even cancellation of their affiliation/recognition.
Surprise inspection will be carried out by squads constituted specifically for this purpose," the statement issued by PK Singh reads.
The statement added that all government schools are open and any absenteeism by teachers without approved leave on groundswould invite strict disciplinary action.
"The Government has ensured adequate security so that no one is prevented from attending school," the statement affirmed while informing the parents to send their children to their respective school.
It further stated that any problem faced in this regard may be brought to the notice of the concerned district Superintendent of Police.
