Seven hurt in inter-village clash

Imphal, September 14 2020:
At least seven persons have been injured in a violent confrontation between villagers of Joujangtek and Nungsai that took place at around 1.30 pm yesterday in Noney district.
As ABCI company engaged in construction of road from Bishnupur and Tupul unloaded earth over a piece of land contested by the two villages, a heated argument ensued between the two sides which was soon followed by pelting of stones, sources informed.
The violent confrontation left seven people wounded and some of them were taken to Noney PHC.
The situation was later brought under control by a combined team of Noney district police and Bishnupur district police.
Subsequently, Noney Sub-Divisional Magistrate issued an order whereby restrictions were imposed on gathering of five or more people and carrying of sticks, stones, firearms and any other object which can be used as weapons under CrPC Section 144.It is said that the restrictions would remain in force until there is normalcy between Joujangtek and Nungsai.
