Imphal, July 14 2016:
Popular Front of India (PFI) and Pangal
Students' Organisation (PSO) have strongly condemned denying
of 21 Muslim students to board an Indigo flight at Imphal airport.
The incident happened at around 11 am today.
Security personnel denied entry of all the students along
with their guides who tried to get inside the aircraft, said
Pangal Students Organisation president MA Wakil Ansari.
The security team later handed the students over to Manipur
Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR), he
said.
Ansari said that the students were going to Gujarat and
Maharashtra to learn Ismalic studies.
Some of them were returning to their respective institutes
after Ramadan holidays while some are freshers, he said.
He threatened to launch intense agitation if the State Gov-
ernment, airport authority and MCPCR fail to make
arrangements for sending the students to their respective in-
stitutes within 48 hours with security.
On the other hand, Popular Front of India (PFI) while
condemning the incident questioned how the students could be
denied boarding of the flight after issuing boarding pass by
the authority concerned.
In this regard, the airport authority must provide a detailed
report to PFI and take action against the erring officials.
Apart from refunding the airfares, the Government must
also compensate the students adequately, said the statement.
