Muslim body flays Minister

Muslim body Anjuman Islah-e-Muaashrah has said that it will take the issue of making derogatory remarks allegedly by Education Minister M Okendro at the National level.
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, Anjuman-e-Muaashrah Co-ordinator Md Muheiyuddin said that a Bolero SUV (MN01-XO 786) hit a Dio scooter (MN-01-C5697) at around 4.45 pm at Lilong Bazar on February 10. Instead of apologizing to the two-wheeler rider, occupants of the Bolero tried to speed away, he said and added that they were however caught by the volunteers of Anjuman Islah-e-Muaashrah and police after crossing Lilong bridge.
After some time, Minister M Okendro and MLA K Ranjit came to Lilong Police Station and asked the police to release the Bolero occupants.
He said that M Okendro allegedly made insulting remarks to Muslim community before they took away the duo.
Peeved with the attitude of M Okendro, a public meeting to condemn the Minister was held at Lilong.
Although, a public held in this regard demanded that the Minister apologise to Muslim community within 24 hours, M Okendro failed to do so, the Co-ordinator said.
As such, the people of Lilong area are ready to teach a lesson to the Minister by taking up the issue at the National level, he said and added that a public meeting to discuss the matter would be conducted at Lilong on February 16. Alleging that Lilong PS OC Hussain is an incapable police officer, the Co-ordinator also said that he must be removed from the police station.
He also sought attention of the Home Department in this regard.
