State Govt to assist poor writers in printing books

Chief Minister O Ibobi has expressed his desire to give assistance in printing the books of writers who write with welfare motive of the society in the mind but are unable to print their own books.
The Chief Minister was speaking as Chief Guest at the concluding function of 77th Annual Conference of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy here today.
He stated that the state government would be discussing to bring up some specific plans for extending financial assistance to writers in printing their books which have been written for the welfare of the society.
Experts in the field would be consulted in finding out such books and the government would assist the author in printing the book.

The Chief Minister further informed that apart from giving financial assistance to poor writers in printing their books, the government would also start giving pensions to selected writers considering their contributions to the society.
All writers, except those who are government employees, would be considered while selecting the writers' for providing pension benefits.
The 5th edition of Cheitharol Kumbaba published by the Parishad was released and 31 writers were feted with various awards at the occasion.
Kamalsana Rajkumari Ningshing Award was conferred to Lourembam Bedabati and Guru Maisnam Amubi Samman was conferred to Thokchom Brindasabi.
