Imphal, July 12 2021: The state continues to face the wrath of Covid-19 with daily new cases showing no signs of declining and daily positivity rate hovering above 13 per cent with Monday reporting 890 new positive cases and 15 fatalities.

While Monday recorded a slight reduction in number of new cases and positivity rate from Sunday's 911 and 14.41 per cent positivity rate, the number of fatalities on Monday was higher than 14 of Sunday.

The last seven days reported 5903 new cases and 83 fatalities while the current month recorded 8831 new cases and 137 fatalities.

So far, 49,221 positive cases and 913 fatalities have been reported in the second wave of the pandemic.

Active caseload on Monday swelled to 7520 out of which 2956 (39.31 per cent) are in home isolation, 2574 (34.23 per cent) in CHICs, 860 (11.44 per cent) in hospitals, and 1130 (15.03 per cent) in CCCs.

Out of the 860 patients admitted in hospitals, 331 patients are on oxygen support and 45 on ventilator/NIV support.

On the other hand, 59 patients in different CCCs are on oxygen support.

With a total of 1990 patients admitted to different hospitals and CCCs, 2208 beds are available as of Sunday night, which include 432 in hospitals and 1776 in CCCs.

According to official reports, all the 890 new cases (452 male & 438 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (26), JNIMS (55), District Hospitals (613) and other testing centres (196).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (153), Imphal West (347), Thoubal (74), Bishnupur (69), Kakching (37), Ukhrul (2), Churachandpur (83), Chandel (5), Senapati (13), Tamenglong (59), Tengnoupal (5), Jiribam (4), Noney (1), Kamjong (21) and Kangpokpi (17) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, said the daily government bulletin.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 15 Covid-19 deaths (13 male & two female) in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (8), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (1) and Churachandpur (2).Six patients died at JNIMS, four at RIMS, two each at Raj Medic-ity and DH Churachandpur while one patient succumbed at DH Thoubal.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1287 .

Three patients died within 24 hours of reaching hospital, two within 48 hours and another two within 72 hours.

All the victims were vaccinated and three of them were below 60 years of age.

In the last 24 hours, 590 patients were discharged from home isolation (210), RIMS (19), JNIMS (3), CCCs (181) and CHICs (177) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 78,621 (general population -74,704 and CAPF personnel - 3,917) .

Number of recovered cases is 69,814 (general population - 65,991 and CAPF personnel - 3,823) and number of active cases is 7,520 (general population - 7,431 and CAPF personnel - 89).The recovery rate is 88.79 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1796 D-type and 376 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

District hospitals and government institutions have 423D and 102B filled cylinders and stock distributions made in the last 24 hours included Bishnupur (89D,12B), Chandel (28D,5B), Chura-chandpur (61D,0B), Senapati (40D,0B), Thoubal (75D,33B), Ukhrul (17D,18B), Tamenglong (20D,0B), Jiribam (48D,12B), Moreh (17D,4B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B), Kakching (14D,15B), Pherzawl (6D,2B), Noney (2D0B) and CCCs (350D,111B).Only 4804 people were vaccinated against Covid-19 on Sunday and the cumulative number of vaccinated people has reached 7,81,818 including 94,456 people who have got their second dose.

Meanwhile, 51 new positive cases were detected from 419 samples tested in Kakching district from Sunday 2 pm to Monday 2 pm.

Four cases were detected at Jivan Hospital, six at Sun Hospital and 41 at different government RAT sites.

According to DSO Kakching, the cumulative number of infected persons has reached 4275 in the district out of which 3514 have recovered and 86 have died.

Active caseload of the district is 675 as on Monday afternoon.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (27,415), Imphal East (17,276), Thoubal (6606), Churachandpur (6430), Kangpokpi (1965), Tamenglong (2262), Bishnupur (5268), Senapati (1492), Ukhrul (1553), Kakching (4167), Chandel (1306), Noney (606), Tengnoupal (837), Jiribam (796), Kamjong (488), and Pherzawl (154) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (450), Imphal East (327), Thoubal (121), Churachan-dpur (106), Kangpokpi (35), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (104), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (16), Kakching (75), Chandel (18), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (8), Jiribam (4), Kamjong (3), and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 25,337 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,168 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,10,180 tests per million population against the national average of 3,10,149 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.64 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 6521 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 13.65 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.17 per cent.
